Delivering Our Biggest Event Yet: Touch Rugby World Cup 2024
In July 2024, Buster Marquees delivered its largest and most complex event to date: the Touch Rugby World Cup. Held from 15th–21st July 2024, the tournament brought together 190 teams across men’s, women’s and mixed categories, representing 39 nations from around the world.
It was a true global sporting event, and one that demanded serious infrastructure, flawless coordination, and months of planning.
A Multi-Site Build at Scale
Working closely with the event organisers and a network of specialist suppliers, Buster Marquees was responsible for the supply and organisation of 96 marquees across three major venues in Nottingham:
- Nottingham Hockey Centre
- University of Nottingham Riverside Sports Complex
- University of Nottingham Highfields Sports Complex
Across these sites, we created fully functional player villages and event zones, providing essential sheltered spaces for teams, officials, volunteers, and support staff throughout the week-long competition.
It was a distributed, high-footfall international event running simultaneously across multiple locations, and everything had to work, every day, without exception.
Planning, Precision and Delivery
From first conversations to final takedown, the project spanned almost a full year of planning. Detailed site layouts, access routes, safety considerations, scheduling and logistics all had to be aligned well in advance.

Built for Performance, Whatever the Conditions
July weather is never guaranteed in the UK. Our marquees provided reliable shelter, clear layouts, and durable structures capable of handling long days, heavy use, and constant movement of people and equipment.
The setup ensured the tournament could run smoothly regardless of conditions, allowing athletes and organisers to focus on performance, without worrying about logistics.
